Free For All Friday – Vacation

Time for just a random topic that’s on my mind. Vacation. Sure, part of it is because I’m ready for one. So ready for one. Like unbelievably ready for one. Okay, so you get the point. I’m ready.

But should I be? Should a person take a break from their efforts in life to relax? I think so. Resting is part of the natural order of things. I believe that God ordained rest as a part of our lives so we don’t work too hard and that He modeled it in the creation story. Even if you don’t believe in God (or even A god), you have to admit that the fact that days cycle through to night and repeat through seasons that cycle through point to an ideal of rest and renewal.

I’m a firm believer in vacations. The opportunity to get away and recharge, build memories with your family and generally break the cycle of daily and weekly life is something that we shouldn’t overlook. Sometimes the destination isn’t even as important as the fact that you are just getting away. Sure, some vacations are more fun than others, but I’ll tell you that Julie and I have had as much fun camping in the Ozarks as we’ve had at Disney World.

What about you? Do you look forward to your vacation or do you think that they are a waste of time? Leave your comments below and have a fantastic weekend!

Yes, I am a believer! If you don’t take a break from whatever daily routine you’re in, you risk becoming old and stale. Vacations are also an opportunity to learn new things, experience other cultures, and enhance your view of the world and all those in it.
